Domestic Violence
If you are a victim of domestic violence and abuse you do not need to suffer in silence. There are places you can contact for free confidential help and advice.
HARV Domestic Violence TeamThere are 20 Domestic Violence Liaison Officers working across Lancashire situated in the main police stations. The main police station for Rossendale is Burnley – telephone 01282 472107.
Victims of reported cases are contacted by letter, telephone or personally, after an assessment or response has been made. The officers are also there to advise victims of other networks and support services available, consider the provision of alarms and phones, assist with transport eg. to refuges, property retrieval and assist in court matters.

There is also a 24 hour helpline run in partnership with Women’s Aid and Refuge 0808 2000 247.

The partnership is made up of representatives from Rossendale Borough Council, Lancashire police, Lancashire county Council, Probation service, NHS East Lancashire, Lancashire fire and rescue service and other partner statutory and voluntary agencies. Hate Crime
Hate Crime is any incident motivated by the offender’s dislike of your race, faith, gender, disability, sexual orientation or age. It is taken very seriously by local Police who have a dedicated Hate Crime and Diversity Unit which helps investigate incidents and provide support to victims of hate crime.
If you have experienced hate crime you can report it. This can be done in a number of ways:
