The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces Community – those serving in the Regular and Reserve forces, veterans, and their families.

The Legion provides information, advice and guidance to help the Armed Forces community find and access the support they need, and also provides direct support in the following areas:

  • Information and Advice
  • General Support for a wide range of issues
  • Benefits and Money Advice
  • Housing Support
  • Independent Living Advice
  • Outreach Support
  • War pension tribunals
  • Handy van service
  • Admiral Nurses
  • Holiday breaks
  • Employment support
  • and much more.

The Royal British Legion will be able to signpost, when appropriate, into the Pennine Care Foundation Trust Military Veterans IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service. The Military Veteran’s Service provides mental health support to ex-service personnel for conditions including depression, alcohol and substance misuse, anger problems and post-traumatic stress disorder. The RBL can also provide hospital visits or home visits for patients who are socially isolated.

Appropriate patients
Those who are either currently serving or have served in the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Regular or Reservists, and their families.


Opening Hours

The Royal British Legion contact centre is open 8am-8pm on 0808 802 8080 this will ensure that an individual is put through to the local Area Support Team.  The Veterans Gateway can also be contacted – this is a signposting and advice service and is available 24 hours a day on 0808 802 1212 or for online information and live chat visit
