Homewise is the local Home Improvement Agency for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley and has been operating since 1987.

Throughout East Lancashire, our Memory Matters project (funded by NHS and National Lottery) supports people with memory issues and their carers.  The project is about improving the lives of people with memory issues and their carers, enabling them to continue to live as independently as possible.

Our aim is to make the home a safe and user-friendly environment for the person living with memory loss by offering advice on specialist products and help to access and fund the equipment needed. We help them regain the daily living skills to do small things for themselves by putting in place small aids e.g. giving the person the ability to shower, use the toilet, lock the door, take their own medications etc.  This reduces falls and hospital admissions which impacts massively on their health and wellbeing.

We also ensure that all carers know of, and are put in touch with, the organisations that can provide additional assistance to ensure they have support networks in place to reduce their stress and prevent family crisis.
