Scope is a local charity supporting people with cerebral palsy and other related disabilities.  “We want to make East Lancs and outlying districts a better place for people with Cerebral Palsy and other related disabilities by enabling them to have more choice and control over how they live.”

The group offers practical and emotional support to the parents, carers and individuals of the local community. The group is particularly advantageous for families and new parents who have a newly diagnosed child.  We give social and mutual support.  We give assistance to access a range of social activities such as:

  • Family Holidays
  • Day Trips
  • Meals out

This local Scope branch was founded in 1961 and over the years has helped many families in the local area.  Our group is made up entirely of volunteers.  Money is raised through charitable donations and in-store collections at local shopping outlets.

We don’t aim to provide the answers for everything, but we do aim to provide support and put you in touch with others who may have experienced similar situations and will be there to support you.

Scope meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 8pm at at the coffee bar on the ground floor, situated at the back of the Central Methodist Church, Burnley.  New members will be made very welcome.
