The Abaseen Foundation is a pioneering charity based in Lancaster with local fundraising and volunteering links in Rossendale.
The charity works to improve the lives of people in one of the poorest and most deprived areas of Khyber Pakhtunhwa, north west Pakistan. Natural disasters like floods and earthquakes, and the man-made disaster of global terrorism, have resulted in this being one of the world’s most destitute and dangerous areas and the Abaseen Foundation aims to relieve this as much as possible.
Gender equality is a key agenda for the Foundation’s work, with a focus on female education, as this had been discouraged due to the radicalization of the area. By educating girls at early stage the Abaseen Foundation believes it provides the best opportunity for women, families and community development in the future.
